This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Michael Aalto! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 2 losses; Samuel Cooke! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Aalto shoots for a takedown but Cooke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Aalto darts in looking for a takedown but Cooke gets double underhooks and turns Aalto into the cage. Michael Aalto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aalto closes the distance and clinches. Cooke gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Aalto regains guard.

Aalto wants to control the position but Cooke says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cooke prevents Aalto from improving his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aalto tries to regain full guard. Score +3 for taking back: Aalto (0) vs (8) Cooke Aalto is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cooke gets his way!
Cooke is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Aalto is defending well though. Cooke let's go of the attempt for now.
