This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Broklyn Red! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Red has taken the fight to the clinch.
Red has Alvarez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Red pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Alvarez tumbling to the mat - Red dives into Alvarez's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Alvarez (0) vs (2) Red We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Alvarez wants to sweep but no luck. Red drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alvarez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alvarez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alvarez! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Alvarez (4) vs (2) Red Red tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Alvarez presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Alvarez (6) vs (2) Red Red is desperately trying to improve his position but Alvarez has a good base and remains in mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvarez looking to control and managing it successfully. Red is trying desperately to improve position. Alvarez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Red wants to hold on but Alvarez pushes him away. Alvarez is trying to take his opponent's back.
Red reaches up to try and pull Alvarez in and control his posture, but Alvarez latches on to an arm and pivots quickly for an armbar! Red taps out and this one is all over!

After the fight, Tyler Alvarez was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
