This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 2 losses; Neil Nucombe! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Bingo Snapper! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. A momentary lapse in concentration from Nucombe enables Snapper to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nucombe manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Nucombe (0) vs (2) Snapper Snapper pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nucombe is keeping the position for now. Snapper trying to control but Nucombe is working from the bottom. Nucombe pulls Snapper in to control the position. Snapper is looking to advance position but Nucombe has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Snapper tries to lock up and control but Nucombe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Nucombe controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nucombe pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nucombe content just to control the position here. Snapper slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Nucombe is looking to advance position but Snapper won't allow it. Nucombe performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nucombe is pressing down on Snapper's thigh, looking to free his foot. Snapper is holding on for now. Nucombe trying to control the pace. Nucombe's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Further stalling from Nucombe. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Snapper is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nucombe pulls his head out easily.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Nucombe keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Snapper wants to get back to full guard. Nucombe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Snapper knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Nucombe controlling the action here. Nucombe has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Snapper tries to roll over but Nucombe keeps him under control.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Nucombe wants to pass to mount but Snapper is defending the position. Nucombe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Snapper is trying to get back to full guard. Snapper is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Nucombe controlling the action here.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. This is a sustained period of stalling by Nucombe. Nucombe passes to side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Nucombe (7) vs (2) Snapper Snapper tries to improve position but can't.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Nucombe advances to mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Nucombe (9) vs (2) Snapper Nucombe controlling his opponent. Snapper is desperately trying to improve his position but Nucombe has a good base and remains in mount. Nucombe looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Nucombe slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Nucombe just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Nucombe is stinking the place up with his stalling. Snapper is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Nucombe avoiding Snapper 's attempts to control his hands. Nucombe biding his time, looking for the opening.

And that's the end of the fight! Nucombe takes the fight on points by 12 to 2. A relieved looking Neil Nucombe thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
