Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Lahtela closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Lahtela successfully pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sergeev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lahtela swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lahtela is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sergeev is aware though and is defending well. Lahtela looking for a guillotine here but Sergeev defends easily.
Lahtela being controlled here, momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sergeev looking to pass the guard. Sergeev trying to control the position from guard on top but Lahtela is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sergeev got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lahtela has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sergeev has managed to get both his arms back between Lahtela's legs - danger averted. Sergeev slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Sergeev wants to pass the guard but Lahtela is keeping the position. Lahtela is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sergeev seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lahtela tries to get to full guard but Sergeev has control of the leg. Sergeev is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sergeev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lahtela really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sergeev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sergeev is working for a kimura but Lahtela is defending it quite comfortably.
