Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Felix Chase (ranked 1450 p4p, 1649 weight class) and Darren Woodley (ranked 174 p4p, 201 weight class). Woodley comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Scorpions - Winds Of Change kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Felix Chase ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darren Woodley! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chase tries for a takedown but Woodley sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Chase misses with a takedown and Woodley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A nice leg kick lands there from Woodley. Woodley thows a body kick. Chase tries to catch it but that hurt him. Chase misses with a body kick. Woodley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chase was well out of range. Poor timing from Woodley. Woodley misses with a low kick.
Woodley lands with an uppercut that bounces Chase off the cage and back into range. Chase is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Woodley. We've been hearing reports that Chase has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Woodley fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Chase takes one to the chin there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Woodley leaves Chase with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Felix Chase . That's going to take a lot out of him. Chase fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Woodley avoids it really well and circles away. Woodley bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Chase 's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chase takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Chase tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Woodley fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Woodley with the inside leg kick. Chase shoots in but no luck this time. Chase shoots for a double leg takedown but Woodley sprawls well. He's pushed Chase 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Woodley has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far. Woodley buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Chase misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Chase has a takedown stuffed. Chase is trying hard to land a takedown here. Woodley sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Felix Chase seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chase looks to land a combination but Woodley avoids it well. Chase fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Woodley avoids it really well and circles away. Woodley with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woodley defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chase . Woodley lands a jab. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Chase shoots for a double leg takedown but Woodley sprawls well. He's pushed Chase 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Chase tries to close the distance and clinch up but Woodley swats him away and circles back towards the center. Woodley wants to land a leg kick but Chase is out of range. Chase seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Chase shoots in for a double leg but Woodley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Woodley lands a nice looking body shot.
Chase is breathing heavily. Nice cross by Woodley. Woodley scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Chase shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Chase is rocked! Woodley is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Chase had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Woodley pounces like a tiger and cracks Chase with a vicious hook! Chase is down but not out! Woodley follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Darren Woodley! In his post fight interview, Darren Woodley started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
