Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ronaldo Souza (ranked 1729 p4p, 2666 weight class) and Raw Smoker (ranked 224 p4p, 346 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.

Souza ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smoker moves away.
Souza looks for a takedown but Smoker sprawls well.
Smoker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Smoker is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
You can see the frustration on Souza's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Smoker wants to control but Souza is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smoker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Souza looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Souza looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Souza!

Souza swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Smoker is now in Souza's guard. A big mistake from Souza there, giving up the dominant position!

My spies in Island Training Centre inform me that Smoker has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Souza is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Souza has his arm under Smoker's chin here. Game over son! Souza squeezes tightly and Smoker is forced to tap out!

A less than humble Ronaldo Souza misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
