Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Quinteros (ranked 1090 p4p, 759 weight class) and Lee Roy (ranked 172 p4p, 119 weight class). Roy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: General Lee. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nelson Quinteros! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lee Roy! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and James Glass.

Quinteros has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Roy lands with a good body shot. Quinteros misses the shot to the body. Roy connects with a looping right hand.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. No luck for Quinteros with that takedown attempt. Quinteros shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Roy pinned against the cage. Roy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Roy lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Quinteros pushes Roy up against the cage in a clinch. Roy breaks from the clinch.

Quinteros ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Roy moves away. Roy throws a low kick but Quinteros moves out of range easily. Roy lands a leg kick that knocks Quinteros off balance momentarily. Roy throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Quinteros misses with a series of wild punches.
Roy throws a chopping leg kick but Quinteros manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roy takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Quinteros avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Quinteros tries to close the distance and clinch up but Roy swats him away and circles back towards the center. Quinteros takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Quinteros displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Roy throws out the jab. Quinteros blocks a low kick nicely. Roy tries a low kick but Quinteros avoids it. Quinteros has Roy up against the cage in a clinch.
Quinteros wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Roy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Quinteros misses the shot to the body. Good leg kick by Roy. Roy throws a head kick but Quinteros moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roy with a body punch. A glancing blow. Roy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Quinteros. Quinteros feints and as Roy raises his hands in defense, Quinteros changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Roy pushes Quinteros off and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Roy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Quinteros. That did some damage! Roy avoids a punch combination nicely.
Roy tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Quinteros is able to avoid easily. Roy throws a leg kick and Quinteros counters with a series of strikes. Roy will be more careful next time no doubt. Roy feints and then cracks Quinteros's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Quinteros down. A chopping leg kick lands by Roy. Quinteros dives in and grabs Roy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Roy pushes down on Quinteros's head and hops out. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lee Roy dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! Quinteros doesn't manage to clinch there - Roy circles away.

Roy comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Roy tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Quinteros avoids a wild elbow strike from Roy. Quinteros blocks the elbow strike.

Quinteros is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Quinteros rushes Roy and presses him up against the cage. Quinteros blocks an elbow strike. Quinteros tries a knee to the head but Roy blocks it.

It looks like Lee Roy has been cut. Quinteros moves out of range as Roy strikes. Roy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Roy throws a leg kick that is checked and Quinteros cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Quinteros works the jab nicely. Roy wants to clinch up but Quinteros keeps it at a distance. Nelson Quinteros is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Roy throws a nice inside leg kick. Roy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Roy wants it to stay on the feet. Roy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Roy darts in and clinches Quinteros up against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Quinteros is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Roy to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nelson Quinteros. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roy lands an elbow just above Quinteros 's eye. Roy tries to work over Quinteros's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Roy misses with an elbow strike.

It looks like Nelson Quinteros has been cut. Quinteros working some nice short punches in the clinch. Roy tries to land knees in the clinch but Quinteros avoids the damage to the body. Lee Roy seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Quinteros manages to break the clinch.
Quinteros moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Roy fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Quinteros looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Nice defenses there by Quinteros. Quinteros throwing a counter right hand but Roy manages to avoid it. Roy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Quinteros. Roy connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Good exchange - Roy coming out on top. Nice shot lands for Roy.
Quinteros is rocked! No luck for Quinteros with that takedown attempt. Oh Quinteros is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Quinteros misses with a hook. Roy ducked under it nicely. Roy lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Roy lands with a kick to the ribs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Quinteros stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Roy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roy lands with a nice body punch. Quinteros seems to have got his legs back now. Quinteros walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Quinteros shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Roy as he jumps to the side. Roy moves into the clinch. Quinteros blocks an elbow strike from Roy.
Roy creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Roy lands a good knee to the midsection. Quinteros won't want to take too many of those. Roy misses with an elbow over the top. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Roy just misses with a elbow thrown towards Quinteros's brow. Roy lands a nice elbow. Roy lands an elbow inside. Quinteros blocks an elbow strike from Roy.

Lee Roy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! A solid leg kick lands there for Roy.

Quinteros shoots in looking for a takedown but Roy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Quinteros's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Roy misses with a straight right. Roy lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Roy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Quinteros, up you get! Roy slaps away a takedown attempt from Quinteros, before circling back to the center of the mat. Roy tests Quinteros's chin there with a solid looking shot. Roy scores with a jab to the body. Roy misses with a body kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roy has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Roy lands with a right hand. Quinteros closes the distance looking to clinch and Roy counters with a stiff right hand. Quinteros tries to clinch up and Roy counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Roy throws a quick inside leg kick. Roy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quinteros moves away. Quinteros tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Roy manages to circle out of the way. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Quinteros changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roy tries to avoid it but Quinteros manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roy to the ground. Roy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Quinteros throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A nice inside leg kick there by Roy. That's going to slow Quinteros down. Quinteros takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Roy takes the fight into the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Lee Roy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Roy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
