The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. St Pierre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cosades sprawls well initially but St Pierre persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Cosades tries to roll over but St Pierre keeps him under control. Cosades is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Oblivion Gate, so we'll see if he gets out of it. St Pierre is taking a breather. Cosades says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Cosades remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise St Pierre will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. St Pierre is persistently looking for the submission but Cosades is defending it well.

Cosades got a little sloppy there for a moment and St Pierre has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cosades has managed to get both his arms back between St Pierre's legs - danger averted. There's a bit of a scramble here and now St Pierre is on top in guard.
