Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kendall Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Bowles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kendall Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Bowles!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves blocks the body kick.
Alves tries for a takedown but Bowles sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bowles tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alves was well out of range. Poor timing from Bowles.

Bowles shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bowles was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Alves defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bowles.
Alves tries to reverse the position but Bowles maintains control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves tries to hold on but Bowles postures up.
Bowles trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Bowles takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Bowles tries to control but Alves wriggling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alves is in all sorts of trouble here.
Alves bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Alves drops back looking for a leg! Bowles is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bowles manages to kick Alves off! Alves jumps back into Bowles's guard.
Alves stands and throws Bowles's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Alves tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bowles keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alves advances to full mount.
Bowles tries to hold on but Alves pushes him away.

Alves is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bowles has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Bowles keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bowles can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Alves avoids the attempt from Bowles to control.
Bowles is working to get back to half guard.
Bowles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alves tries to control but Bowles wriggling away.

Bowles defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Alves.
Alves is breathing heavily.

Alves jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bowles is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bowles and Alves has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Bowles struggling a bit here.
Bowles is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Bowles regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alves works his foot free and advances to mount.

Alves jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bowles manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Bowles tries to improve position but can't.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alves is trying to get an arm triangle but Bowles is defending well.
Bowles is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kendall Alves will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Bowles closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alves to the mat! Alves manages to get full guard.

Alves had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bowles is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Alves Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bowles's back instead.
Alves controlling well, preventing Bowles from escaping the position.
Bowles is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Alves gets his hands free as Bowles looks to control.
Bowles manages to reverse the position and now he's in Alves's guard. Nice work there by Bowles.
Alves trying to keep a closed guard but Bowles is proving a slippery customer.

Bowles has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Alves to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Bowles is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Alves pulls down on the head and he's put Bowles to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kendall Alves!
