Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Ruas (ranked 103 p4p, 352 weight class) and Jason Steele (ranked 7 p4p, 5 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Jason Steele!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.

Steele throws a body shot but no joy.
Steele stuns Ruas with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ruas misses with a straight left.
Jason Steele seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steele throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ruas half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
We've been hearing reports that Ruas has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Ruas shoots in for a double leg but Steele sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My spies in JAG Battle Gym inform me that Steele has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Steele wants to stand but Ruas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ruas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Steele's guard.

Ruas is pushing Steele up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Ruas looking to throw knees to the head but Steele is blocking nicely.

Ruas blocks an elbow strike from Steele.
Steele tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Steele keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ruas's efforts to push away.
Ruas is trying to maintain a safe position but Steele gets an underhook and turns Ruas into the cage.

Steele misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Ruas.
Ruas has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Steele is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Ruas is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Steele is defending well for now.
Ruas takes a shot to the head.
Ruas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ruas misses with an elbow strike.
Steele lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ruas backwards.
Steele lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Steele tries to land knees in the clinch but Ruas avoids the damage to the body.

Ruas manages to break the clinch.
Steele dips to his left and cracks Ruas with an uppercut!
Steele ducks under a wild hook from Ruas.
Steele is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Ruas with a body shot.
Steele tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ruas manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ruas darts in looking for a takedown but Steele gets double underhooks and turns Ruas into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Ruas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carlos Ruas's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Steele digs a right hand into Ruas's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Ruas's gas tank.
Steele gets through Ruas's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Ruas's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Jeez, Carlos Ruas's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Carlos Ruas's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jason Steele!
Carlos Ruas was interviewed post fight and said 'No one likes seeing their opponent's hand raised, but that just means that they were the better man today. My team at 3Band MMA and I will break down this match and make the proper changes for my next camp.'.
