PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Gout (ranked 4964 p4p, 5219 weight class) and John Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Gout !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Dixon!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dixon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gout eats them both and turns towards Dixon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Dixon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gout doesn't manage to clinch there - Dixon circles away.
Dixon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gout misses with a takedown

and Dixon counters by clinching up.
Dixon tries to work over Gout 's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Gout gets underhooks to prevent Dixon's takedown attempt.
Jim Gout has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Dixon.
Dixon jumps guard but Gout stands there with Dixon around his waist. Dixon gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Gout shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dixon pinned against the cage. Dixon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gout half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Gout misses the shot to the body.
No luck for Dixon with that takedown attempt.

Dixon is trying to pull guard but Gout turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Dixon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Dixon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gout sprawls well. Gout wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dixon gets slowly back to his feet.

Dixon has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gout is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Dixon manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gout is pushing down on Dixon's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dixon is fighting to maintain full guard but Gout has managed to sneak the leg through.
Dixon tries to kick Gout off in order to stand up. Gout Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Dixon is trying to control Gout 's posture but Gout avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Dixon will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gout changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dixon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dixon moves into range and connects with a jab.

Dixon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Dixon.

Dixon keeping moving, preventing Gout from controlling successfully.
Gout stops Dixon from standing up.
Dixon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dixon slows the pace down in half guard.

Dixon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gout defends it well.
Dixon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dixon wants to pass the guard but Gout is defending well.
Jim Gout has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Dixon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

John Dixon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dixon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
