Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lonnie Donegan (ranked 1810 p4p, 1956 weight class) and Chase Buchanan (ranked 205 p4p, 216 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lonnie Donegan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chase Buchanan!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Buchanan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Donegan attempts a counter takedown but Buchanan avoids it well and moves away.
Donegan throws out a loose jab but Buchanan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Buchanan has his takedown stuffed

and Donegan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Buchanan jumps guard but Donegan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Lonnie Donegan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chase Buchanan.

Donegan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fighters circling - Buchanan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Buchanan thuds his right hand into Donegan's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Donegan throws a looping overhand right but Buchanan ducks down to avoid it.
Buchanan with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Donegan to score with a decent uppercut.
Buchanan needs to keep his hands up - Donegan had a free shot at his head there.

and Donegan counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Buchanan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Donegan walks away with a smile on his face. Buchanan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Donegan blocks a jab.
We've been told by Donegan's head coaches at Brooklyn MMA & Fitness that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Buchanan takes a body punch but keeps moving.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Buchanan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Buchanan doesn't manage to clinch there - Donegan circles away.
Buchanan swings widly with a right hand

and Donegan counters by moving into the clinch.
Buchanan fails to pull guard.
Buchanan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Donegan smiles and moves away.

Donegan looks to land a right hand but Buchanan moved out of range.
Buchanan dives in for a single leg takedown but Donegan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Buchanan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Buchanan lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Donegan wants to improve his position but instead Buchanan has moved into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Buchanan wants to free his trapped foot but Donegan is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Donegan has a hand on Buchanan's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Buchanan takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Donegan tries to improve his position but Buchanan has taken his back! Buchanan has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Donegan tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Buchanan pushes Donegan away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chase Buchanan!
In defeat, Lonnie Donegan stepped up to the mic, saying 'Back to the gym!'.
