PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ernesto Llosa (ranked 1297 p4p, 844 weight class) and CJ Tripp (ranked 202 p4p, 131 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, CJ Tripp!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.

Llosa has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Tripp regains guard immediately.

Llosa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Llosa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Tripp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Llosa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Llosa drops back looking for a leg! Tripp is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tripp manages to kick Llosa off! Llosa jumps back into Tripp's guard.
Tripp is pulling down on Llosa's head to control his posture.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Llosa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Tripp throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tripp throws a hook but Llosa blocks it.
Llosa connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Llosa shoots in and drives through. Tripp sprawls well.
Llosa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tripp manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tripp looks to score with a jab to the body but Llosa is just out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but CJ Tripp will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Tripp connects with a nice looking jab.
Llosa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tripp as he jumps to the side.
Llosa ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tripp moves away.
Tripp takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

and Llosa counters with a stiff right hand.

Tripp takes a swing at Llosa's ribcage but misses.
A slow jab from Llosa misses its intended target.

Tripp fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Tripp throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Tripp - that will leave a mark!
Tripp scores with a decent looking hook.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tripp fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Llosa manages to avoid it.
Tripp throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Tripp connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Tripp throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Llosa to counter with a crisp jab.
Llosa looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Llosa is defended easily by Tripp.

In his post fight interview, Ernesto Llosa started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
