PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phil Quincy (ranked 6130 p4p, 5197 weight class) and Joe Dixon (ranked 647 p4p, 609 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Phil Quincy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Dixon!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.

A combination from Quincy does no damage.

Dixon has managed to clinch.
Quincy looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Dixon keeps control of Quincy as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Quincy breaks the clinch.
Quincy swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dixon counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Dixon counters with a good low kick that Quincy was not able to check.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Dixon counters with a nice low kick that buckles Quincy's knee momentarily.

Dixon tries to keep at a distance but Quincy has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dixon creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Dixon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Quincy misses with a double jab
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Dixon counters with a slapping leg kick.

and Dixon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Dixon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Quincy pushes Dixon off and gets back to his feet.

and Dixon counters with a nice low kick that buckles Quincy's knee momentarily.

Dixon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Quincy is defending against the submission attempts here by Dixon.
Dixon slips a nice elbow through Quincy's hands, connecting with Quincy's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Dixon dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dixon manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Quincy on his heels. He'll look to pass Quincy's guard now, I'm sure.

Quincy has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Dixon is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Dixon. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Dixon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dixon wants it to stay on the feet.
Quincy tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Quincy shoots in looking for a takedown but Dixon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Quincy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Quincy takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Quincy is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Dixon dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Quincy. That did some damage!
Phil Quincy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Dixon counters with a thumping low kick.
Quincy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dixon circles away quickly and effectively.

Quincy takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dixon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Quincy wants to stand up but Dixon is controlling him.

and Dixon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Quincy's guard.
Dixon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Joe Dixon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dixon has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Dixon is looking to slow Quincy down with leg kicks.

Dixon fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Quincy has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Joe Dixon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dixon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
