Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luiz Fernando Rodrigues (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Monsoon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Monsoon!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues lands a glancing blow to the side of Monsoon's head.
Rodrigues tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Monsoon swivels and escapes.

Monsoon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodrigues. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Rodrigues is trying to drag Monsoon to the mat but Monsoon just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Rodrigues is fighting off a takedown attempt but Monsoon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rodrigues to the mat. Rodrigues regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Rodrigues has momentary wrist control but Monsoon slips an elbow through the middle.

Monsoon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Monsoon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Monsoon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Monsoon working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Rodrigues has hold of Monsoon's hands but Monsoon slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Rodrigues is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Monsoon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Monsoon's back!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rodrigues is striking from the back but Monsoon escapes and manages to recover to half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Monsoon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rodrigues sprawls well initially but Monsoon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ray Monsoon has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rodrigues pushes Monsoon off looking to stand but Monsoon dives back in and keeps control.
Monsoon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

I think Monsoon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
