Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Jorge (ranked 2525 p4p, 3824 weight class) and Fernando Leyva (ranked 369 p4p, 502 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Felipe Jorge has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Felipe Jorge seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Felipe Jorge! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fernando Leyva! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jorge is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Leyva stalks Jorge and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jorge's face. Jorge staggers backwards, shaken. Felipe Jorge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Leyva scores with a punch to the head.
It looks like Felipe Jorge has been cut. Jorge takes the fight into the clinch. Jorge gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Jorge keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Leyva's head. Leyva is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jorge distracts Leyva with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Leyva wants to stand but Jorge is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jorge throwing strikes but missing. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Leyva wants to get back to his feet but Jorge is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jorge trying to control but Leyva is working from the bottom. Leyva is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jorge is controlling him.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. The fight stays on the outside here - Jorge looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jorge looks to clinch and Leyva cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jorge tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Leyva counters with a stiff right hand. Jorge takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Leyva enables Jorge to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Leyva manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Jorge stops Leyva from standing up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Jorge postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Leyva wants to stand but Jorge is controlling the position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Jorge scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jorge takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Leyva is trying to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jorge missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jorge connects with a nice short shot to Leyva's temple. Jorge thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Leyva wants to get back to his feet.
Leyva has hold of Jorge's hands but Jorge slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Leyva wants to get back to his feet.
We've been hearing that Jorge has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Well, if Jorge is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Jorge thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Leyva's head.

Jorge content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Jorge seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Leyva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Leyva wants to get back to his feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Leyva connects with a right hand. Jorge shakes it off. Leyva lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jorge at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jorge looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Leyva scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Leyva throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Jorge's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Leyva dives in looking to finish as Jorge flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Leyva's strikes! Leyva is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Jorge's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Jorge was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fernando Leyva!
