Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Raske (ranked 1290 p4p, 538 weight class) and Willie Wood (ranked 204 p4p, 81 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thomas Raske! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 26 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Willie Wood! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Wood! But no joy. Raske fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Raske misses with an uppercut. Wood is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Raske with a body shot. Raske looks to land a right hand but Wood moved out of range. Wood looks like he wants to counter punch here. Raske fails to land the takedown. Raske uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Wood has time to react. Raske shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. It seemed like Wood was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Raske throws a head kick that misses and Wood counters with a right hand to the body. Raske misses with a head kick.

Wood has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Nice sprawl there from Wood as Raske shoots in. Raske closes the distance and pushes Wood back into the cage. Wood gets through Raske's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. A body shot lands from Wood.

Wood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Raske manages to avoid it. Raske was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. The crowd are loving this. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wood lands on the inside with an uppercut. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wood creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Wood is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. A short left from Wood. Wood has a couple of punches blocked by Raske.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wood uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Raske.

Raske pushes off an throws an elbow but Wood leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Wood's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Raske wants to clinch and Wood counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raske throws a leg kick and Wood counters with a big right hand! Oh Raske is in trouble here! Wood follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

A relieved looking Willie Wood thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Thomas Raske spoke after the fight, saying 'Sometimes you lose. Sometimes I lose. Losing sucks dick. I'm out!'.
