Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nikolay Oliynyk (ranked 1858 p4p, 2855 weight class) and Ed Sheeran (ranked 100 p4p, 147 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nikolay Oliynyk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ed Sheeran!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sheeran throws a lazy right hand but Oliynyk sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sheeran looks to score with a jab to the body but Oliynyk is just out of range.
Sheeran stuffs the takedown attempt from Oliynyk. Oliynyk gets slowly back to his feet.

Oliynyk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Oliynyk lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Oliynyk pushing down on Sheeran's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Sheeran looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sheeran is pressing down on Oliynyk's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Sheeran working for a triangle but Oliynyk defends it easily.

Oliynyk trying to control the position from guard on top but Sheeran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Oliynyk advances position into side control!

Oliynyk thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Oliynyk tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Oliynyk has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Oliynyk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sheeran keeps working.
Sheeran is looking to regain half guard here but Oliynyk keeps moving and retains side control.
Oliynyk controls the position.

Oliynyk is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sheeran has escaped the position, nice work there.

Oliynyk is looking to take a break and control but Sheeran is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sheeran sneaks back into half guard.
Sheeran tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Oliynyk has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Oliynyk looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Oliynyk sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Oliynyk has control of Sheeran's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sheeran regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Oliynyk tries to control but Sheeran wriggling away.
Oliynyk is really struggling to control Sheeran but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nikolay Oliynyk dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Sheeran misses with an uppercut

and Oliynyk counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Oliynyk sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sheeran's guard.
Sheeran gets back to full guard.
Oliynyk passes Sheeran's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Oliynyk passes the guard and advances to mount!
Oliynyk wants to control the pace but Sheeran is squirming around nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Oliynyk fails to advance to Sheeran's back.
Oliynyk looking to control but Sheeran is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Sheeran is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Oliynyk locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Sheeran is forced to tap!
