Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Curran (ranked 3850 p4p, 1350 weight class) and Japa Koniu (ranked 386 p4p, 166 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

Koniu's coach down at St Petersburg MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Koniu's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

The fighters circle momentarily. Koniu darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Curran has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Koniu uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
