Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Henry Jr (ranked 2065 p4p, 1596 weight class) and Steven Kennedy (ranked 295 p4p, 240 weight class). Steven Kennedy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrew Henry Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 23 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steven Kennedy! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kennedy gets tackled into the cage by Henry Jr. Henry Jr maintains the clinch. We've been informed that Kennedy has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Kennedy is pressed up against the cage. Henry Jr has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kennedy down to the mat. Kennedy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Kennedy closes the distance and clinches up with Henry Jr, looking for a takedown. Kennedy pushes Henry Jr against the cage but Henry Jr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Henry Jr appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Henry Jr rushes Kennedy and presses him up against the cage. Henry Jr has Kennedy pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kennedy manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Kennedy has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Henry Jr after a bit of a struggle. Kennedy jumps guard and drags Henry Jr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Henry Jr stays in close to Kennedy's body and controls the position. Kennedy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Henry Jr defends it easily. Kennedy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Henry Jr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Kennedy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Henry Jr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kennedy keeping full guard, as Henry Jr tries to pass. Henry Jr sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Henry Jr's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Henry Jr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kennedy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Henry Jr trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kennedy's guard. Kennedy is trying to control the position but Henry Jr postures up. Kennedy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Henry Jr has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Henry Jr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kennedy swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kennedy wants to sweep here but Henry Jr controlling him for the moment. Kennedy is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Henry Jr works a leg free and moves into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kennedy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Henry Jr controlling the pace. Kennedy wants to control but Henry Jr is keeping busy.
Kennedy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Henry Jr pulls his head out easily. Henry Jr takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kennedy gets full guard. Henry Jr content to stall in guard here. Henry Jr won't allow Kennedy to sweep him here. Kennedy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Henry Jr is aware though and is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kennedy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Henry Jr controls the pace. Kennedy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Henry Jr looking to improve position, pressing down on Kennedy's thigh with his hand. Kennedy seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Henry Jr paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Henry Jr's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Kennedy picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
