PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zakrie Reem (ranked 23765 p4p, 6948 weight class) and John Kingsley (ranked 659 p4p, 622 weight class). Kingsley is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Razor Town Rising. On his way into the cage it seems that Zakrie Reem has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Zakrie Reem seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zakrie Reem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Kingsley!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reem listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Kingsley takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Reem changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
A nice combination there by Reem.
Reem connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kingsley's hands.
Kingsley fails with a takedown attempt.

Kingsley shoots in and bounces Reem off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Reem tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Reem is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kingsley wants to control but Reem is keeping busy.
Reem thows a huge punch but Kingsley dodges it nicely.
Kingsley tries to get to full guard but Reem has control of the leg.
Reem controlling the action here.

Reem is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reem tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kingsley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kingsley trying to control but Reem postures up.
Reem is taking a breather. Kingsley says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Reem throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Reem is looking for a kimura but Kingsley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Reem to get the leverage.
Kingsley is refusing to be controlled, as Reem sits in half guard.
Reem not doing much here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kingsley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reem. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Reem trying to pass the guard but Kingsley defending well.
Kingsley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reem wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kingsley keeps working.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kingsley fails to land the takedown.
A head kick by Reem misses

and Kingsley counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Reem regains full guard. Nicely done.
Reem lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Reem slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reem tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Reem working away.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Kingsley is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Reem asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Reem is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kingsley will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Reem taking a break here but Kingsley is having none of it and regains half guard.
Reem frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zakrie Reem dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Reem misses with a two punch combination.
Kingsley takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Reem lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Reem.
Reem pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Reem works the jab nicely.
Reem lands a jab to the nose.
Kingsley dodges the punch combination from Reem.
Kingsley changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Reem throws a right hand that Kingsley ducks under and follows up with a left that Kingsley also avoids with ease.
Reem throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Reem with a nice cross.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kingsley fails with the takedown

Kingsley dodges the punch combination from Reem.
Zakrie Reem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kingsley doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Reem counters with a series of strikes. Kingsley will be more careful next time no doubt.
Reem uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Reem throws a half hearted mid kick.
Reem wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Reem tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kingsley was well out of range. Poor timing from Reem.
Reem misses with a few strikes there.
Reem stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reem wants it to stay on the feet.
Zakrie Reem has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Kingsley.
Reem moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Reem lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Reem.

Kingsley is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kingsley walks straight into a right hand from Reem - that's dropped him! Reem jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Kingsley from any more punishment! Kingsley complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:07 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Zakrie Reem!
The defeated John Kingsley had this to say: 'sorry but nothing im going to say....'.
