Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Cruz Jr (ranked 32 p4p, 56 weight class) and Sunray Spike (ranked 5 p4p, 10 weight class). Spike comes into a darkened arena with his song building. For Heavy Metal we will die! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jorge Cruz Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 33 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sunray Spike! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spike scores with a nice head shot. Spike throws a leg kick and Cruz Jr connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Nice straight punches there by Spike. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Spike. Cruz Jr blocks a jab. Cruz Jr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Spike tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cruz Jr misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cruz Jr looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cruz Jr scores with a shot to the body.
Spike misses with a looping left. Cruz Jr is looking to counter punch. A head kick misses from Spike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz Jr lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Spike rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Cruz Jr counters with a nice uppercut. Cruz Jr takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cruz Jr walks forward, straight into a front kick from Spike. Spike tries to bum rush Cruz Jr with a series of wild strikes but Cruz Jr uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Spike misses with a hook. Cruz Jr ducked under it nicely. Cruz Jr thows a left - swing and a miss! Spike doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spike misses with a right hand and Cruz Jr cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Cruz Jr takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

and Spike counters with a straight right hand. Spike misses with a left hand and Cruz Jr counters with a right hand to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spike swings widly with a right hand
and Cruz Jr connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A slow jab from Cruz Jr misses its intended target. Spike fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cruz Jr on the side of the head. Spike misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Cruz Jr counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cruz Jr tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Spike counters with a stiff right hand. An inside leg kick from Spike misses. Cruz Jr is looking to counter the offense by Spike and move into the clinch. Cruz Jr throws a hook but Spike blocks it. A little jabbing left from Spike on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Cruz Jr looks to score with a jab to the body but Spike is just out of range. Spike swings widly with a right hand
letting Cruz Jr counter with a right hand. Sunray Spike seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cruz Jr slips a jab from Spike. It looked like Cruz Jr wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spike throws a leg kick but Cruz Jr moved away. Cruz Jr wants to clinch up but Spike keeps it at a distance. Spike swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Spike takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Spike throws a hook to the side of Cruz Jr's head but Cruz Jr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Spike. Cruz Jr thinks about countering with a head kick. Spike throws a good cross that connects.
Cruz Jr avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cruz Jr swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Spike jabs Cruz Jr right on the nose. Cruz Jr blinks but takes it well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Sunray Spike will probably get the nod. That's time! Cruz Jr's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Cruz Jr avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cruz Jr misses with a few strikes there.
Cruz Jr looks to land a left hand but Spike moved out of range nicely. Cruz Jr misses with a body punch
and Spike connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A jab from Spike finds it's way through Cruz Jr's defenses. A looping hook to the body misses from Spike. Cruz Jr does a little dance to reset his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cruz Jr throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. A swing and a miss from Spike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spike looking to land some kicks to the body here.
And Cruz Jr counters with a quick kick to the body but Spike blocks it. Spike misses with an uppercut. Cruz Jr saw that one coming. Spike is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cruz Jr. Cruz Jr takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Cruz Jr gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nice body punch from Spike - that landed with a thud.
Cruz Jr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Spike looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Spike throws a head kick that misses. Spike throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cruz Jr counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Spike thinking.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz Jr goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Cruz Jr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Spike misses with a left hand and Cruz Jr counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Sunray Spike seems to be getting the better of the standup. This has been an exciting period of action! Spike misses with a lunging right hand
and Cruz Jr counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cruz Jr. Spike breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Cruz Jr avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cruz Jr takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cruz Jr fails in his attempt to clinch. Cruz Jr just misses with a punch to the body.
Spike looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Cruz Jr tries to clinch up. Spike throws a sloppy head kick and Cruz Jr moves out of range easily. Cruz Jr swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Cruz Jr has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Spike. Cruz Jr avoids the head kick by Spike.
Cruz Jr is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cruz Jr throws the left hand but Spike avoids the punch easily. Cruz Jr dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Spike throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cruz Jr counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Spike throws a head kick that half lands.
It looks like Jorge Cruz Jr has been cut. Cruz Jr blocks a jab. Spike throws a nice looking combination but Cruz Jr bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Sunray Spike will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Jorge Cruz Jr's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! Spike throws a push kick but Cruz Jr slaps the foot to one side. Spike blocks a jab. Spike fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cruz Jr with a body punch. A glancing blow. Cruz Jr staying out of range there. As Spike tries to get set, Cruz Jr tries to push him back and clinch up but Spike manages to avoid the attempt. Spike takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cruz Jr connects with a single shot there. BOOM! Cruz Jr lands a beautiful left hook that drops Spike. Spike tries to recover but Cruz Jr is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Spike lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jorge Cruz Jr! In his post fight interview, Jorge Cruz Jr started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
