PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cristian Eriksen (ranked 4842 p4p, 5194 weight class) and Fung Yulan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Fung Yulan!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.

Eriksen tries for a takedown but Yulan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Yulan feints the counter takedown.

Yulan clinches with his opponent.
Eriksen is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Yulan trying to control the position but instead, Eriksen has worked for underhooks and has pushed Yulan into the cage.
Eriksen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Yulan wants to break free but Eriksen has control.
Eriksen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eriksen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Yulan fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Eriksen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yulan smiles and moves away.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Yulan! But no joy.
Eriksen misses with a wild body shot.
Eriksen lands a head kick!

Yulan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Eriksen is breathing heavily.

Eriksen on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yulan not doing much here.
Yulan is trying to control the action in half guard but Eriksen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Eriksen wants to get back to full guard but Yulan has passed into side control.
Eriksen is looking for a sweep.

Eriksen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Yulan stands up and beckons Eriksen to his feet.
Eriksen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yulan swivels and escapes.
Eriksen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Eriksen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Yulan is looking to stand up but Eriksen won't let him.
Eriksen wants to get back to his feet but Yulan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Yulan connects with a couple of short punches.
Yulan advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yulan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Yulan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Eriksen has managed to free his arm - good work.
Yulan trying to control the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fung Yulan will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Eriksen doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Yulan counters by clinching up.
Yulan wants to break free but Eriksen has control.
Yulan misses with the head strike.
Yulan throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Eriksen blocks it with crossed arms.
Yulan wants a takedown but no success here.
Eriksen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Eriksen.
Eriksen goes for a takedown attempt but Yulan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Yulan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Yulan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Eriksen working for submissions but it's allowed Yulan to get to half guard.
Eriksen is not content to let Yulan control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Yulan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are battling for position here. Eriksen manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Yulan wants to get up but he can't break Eriksen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Yulan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Fung Yulan has got the better of the ground game so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Yulan is in close to Eriksen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Eriksen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yulan on the ground.
Eriksen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Yulan wants to stand but Eriksen is controlling his posture from full guard.
Yulan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Yulan is taking a breather. Eriksen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Yulan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Yulan seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Yulan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Yulan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Eriksen tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Yulan has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Eriksen wants to get back to his feet.

Yulan is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Eriksen to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Eriksen shrugs it off.

Yulan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Eriksen is trying to stand but he's just given Yulan his back.
Eriksen is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Fung Yulan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Eriksen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Yulan.

Yulan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Eriksen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Eriksen fakes the leg kick and cracks Yulan in the body.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Eriksen shoots in but no luck this time.
Yulan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Yulan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Eriksen to the ground. Yulan is now in Eriksen's guard.
Eriksen wants to get back to his feet but Yulan passes into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Yulan decides to return to a standing position.

Yulan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Eriksen manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Yulan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Yulan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yulan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Yulan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Eriksen to see if he's OK.
Cristian Eriksen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fung Yulan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Yulan has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Eriksen!

Well Yulan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
