Browne scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Browne cracks Pettis with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Pettis takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Browne is working Pettis over with some ground and pound from side control.
Browne decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pettis to his feet.
Browne gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Browne gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Browne takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Pettis is rocked!
Browne lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Pettis quite badly. Pettis pulls Browne in close trying to recover. Browne postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Pettis on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Pettis doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jamal Browne!
