PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Buckern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Thomas Palmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruce Buckern!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer fails with a takedown attempt.
Palmer wants to clinch up but Buckern keeps it at a distance.
A right-left combo lands from Buckern.
Palmer takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Palmer circles away from the clinch attempt

and Palmer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Buckern won't be happy with that.
Palmer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Buckern throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Buckern wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Buckern is trying to control Palmer's posture but Palmer avoids it.
Buckern is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buckern manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Palmer prevents Buckern from improving his position.
Palmer is trying to control the action in half guard but Buckern is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Palmer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Palmer is fighting to break Buckern's control of his arms but Buckern is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Buckern is trying to control the position but Palmer postures up.
Buckern has his hands on Palmer's head, controlling the position.

Palmer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Palmer wants to control from the top but Buckern keeps moving.
Buckern looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buckern has a closed guard, preventing Palmer from standing up.
Buckern wants to hit a switch here but Palmer passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Buckern there!
Buckern flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Palmer trying to control but Buckern is having none of it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Buckern squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Buckern looks gassed!
Buckern tries to control Palmer's body but Palmer pushes him off. Buckern squirms to his side and now Palmer has his back!
Buckern is in bad spot here.

Buckern trying to control the hands but Palmer breaks the grip.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Buckern breaks Palmer's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Palmer is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Buckern moves into the clinch.

Buckern breaks the clinch.
Buckern throws a right and a left that Palmer avoids nicely.
Left hook, right uppercut from Buckern.
Buckern will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Buckern stuffs the takedown attempt from Palmer. Palmer gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Thomas Palmer will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Left hook, right uppercut from Buckern.

Buckern gets the takedown into side control.
Buckern working the ground and pound.

Buckern looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Buckern working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Palmer is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buckern trying to control the position but Palmer is working away.
Palmer is looking for a sweep.

Buckern is working to tighten is grip on Palmer's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Palmer has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Buckern is really squeezing tight and eventually Palmer passes out! Buckern breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Bruce Buckern!
