This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 3 losses; Kurt Diesel! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 2 losses; Seppo Sepi! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Sepi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Diesel. Sepi rushes Diesel and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Sepi is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Diesel can't fight it off and eventually Sepi manages to take the fight to the floor. Diesel looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Diesel (0) vs (2) Sepi The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Sepi wants to control from the top but Diesel keeps moving. Diesel wants to control but Sepi passes easily into half guard.
Sepi uses his free foot to push down on Diesel's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Diesel. Sepi goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Diesel turns into him and now he's in Sepi's guard.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diesel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diesel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Diesel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sepi is keeping the position for now. Diesel trying to control the position from guard on top but Sepi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sepi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Sepi throws his legs up looking for a submission but Diesel uses it to pass to side control.

That's ten minutes gone in the round. Sepi tries to bench press Diesel off him but Diesel keeps the position. Sepi trying to control but Diesel flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Score +3 for taking back: Diesel (8) vs (5) Sepi Sepi trying to control the position but Diesel manages to sink in the hooks. Diesel controlling the position well here. Sepi rolled but Diesel kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Sepi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Sepi defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Diesel's arms. Sepi tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Diesel trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Sepi doesn't escape. Sepi trying to control the action but Diesel just sinks the hooks in. Sepi can't escape the position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sepi's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Diesel's hands.
And that's the end of the fight! Diesel takes the fight on points by 11 to 5. During a confident post fight interview, Kurt Diesel thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. |
