Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Blais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Fontana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fontana comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mouth for war kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Charles Fontana acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Xavier Blais! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charles Fontana! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blais shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fontana pinned against the cage. Fontana gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Blais tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fontana paws at him with a jab and circles away. Fontana gets in close and instigates a clinch. Fontana lands a nice uppercut.
It looks like Xavier Blais has been cut. Blais wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Blais tries to work over Fontana's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Blais wants to break free but Fontana has control.
Fontana lands a right hand. Blais misses with the head strike.
Still in the clinch, Fontana scores with a nice short uppercut. Fontana breaks the clinch.
Blais smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Fontana forces Blais back against the cage and clinches. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Fontana wants a takedown but no success here.
Blais swings wildly with an uppercut but Fontana uses good head movement to avoid it. Fontana is trying to drag Blais to the mat but Blais just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Fontana's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Fontana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Blais closes the distance but Fontana moves to the side and Fontana counters with a takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fontana lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Blais down.
Blais prevents Fontana from moving into mount. Blais is pushing Fontana's head away, looking to escape. Fontana manages to hold on to the position though. Fontana tries to score with some ground and pound. Blais controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Fontana stands up and beckons Blais to his feet. Fontana shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blais as he avoids it easily. Xavier Blais has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Fontana. Blais shoots for a double leg takedown but Fontana sprawls well. He's pushed Blais's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Fontana closes the distance and lands a one-two. Blais is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blais fails with a takedown attempt. Fontana moves into the clinch. Fontana has Blais pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Blais manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Blais is working for takedown but Fontana is calmly controlling the position for now. Fontana jumps into guard, dragging Blais to the mat.
Blais wants to get up but he can't break Fontana's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Fontana throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Blais is looking to stand up but Fontana won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fontana uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Blais tries to clinch but fails miserably and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Fontana takes the fight into the clinch. Blais takes a shot to the head. Fontana scores with a nice hook to the head. Fontana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Fontana looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Blais wants to clinch but Fontana slips to the side and Fontana counters with a stiff right hand. Blais looks to clinch and Fontana counters by moving into the clinch. Fontana manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Fontana will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fontana trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Fontana working for a triangle but Blais defends it easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charles Fontana dominated that round. The cut man is working on Xavier Blais's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Blais shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Blais showed some decent athleticism there. Fontana regains full guard. Nicely done. Blais is looking to stand up but Fontana won't let him. Fontana is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Fontana frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fontana throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Blais has his hands clasped together but Fontana breaks the hold and Blais is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Fontana!
