Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Robert Frost (ranked 24642 p4p, 25008 weight class) and Slenzy Johnson (ranked 248 p4p, 241 weight class). Frost comes into the arena with SETH ECT - B.L.A.S.T blaring out of the sound system. Slenzy Johnson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Frost! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Slenzy Johnson! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frost throws a leg kick which misses Johnson's front leg but catches the back leg as Johnson tries to avoid it. Frost tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Johnson tries to counter by closing the distance. Frost throws a right and a left that Johnson avoids nicely. Frost gets tackled into the cage by Johnson. Johnson maintains the clinch. Frost fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.

We've been told by Frost's head coaches at That one gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Frost stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Frost wants it to stay on the feet. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt. Robert Frost has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Slenzy Johnson.

Johnson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Frost fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Frost bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Johnson's head backwards. Frost throws a series of punches but Johnson moves out of range. Johnson rushes Frost and presses him up against the cage. Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Frost throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Johnsons head. Frost pressing his opponent against the cage. Johnson blocks a body shot from Frost. Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnson lands the left hand. Frost shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side. Robert Frost seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Frost throws out the jab. Johnson is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson throws a chopping leg kick but Frost manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Frost throws a shot from downtown. Johnson moves away and avoids it. Johnson ducks down and throws a hook to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Frost looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt. Johnson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Frost. Frost avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Frost. No joy for Johnson on that attempt. Johnson wants to clinch up but Frost keeps it at a distance. Johnson slips under a jab from Frost. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Frost shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. A lazy body kick from Johnson and Frost counters by moving into the clinch. Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Johnson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. It looked like Frost wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson is looking for a takedown. Johnson looks winded! Frost is leaning against Johnson and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Frost is struggling to control the position. Johnson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Frost tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Johnson's elbow. Frost stalling in the clinch.
Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Frost walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Frost takes the fight into the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Frost manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Frost is struggling to control the position. The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Frost for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Frost stalling the fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Frost dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Frost misses with a double jab
and Johnson counters with a left and a right that stings Frost. Robert Frost is winning the standup battle so far. Frost misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Frost darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Frost is thwarting Johnson's attempts to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson is looking for a sweep. Frost is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Frost is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Johnson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Frost is working away from the top position though. Frost trying to control from half guard but Johnson is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frost is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Frost eventually gives up the hold. Frost not landing any meaningful shots this time. Frost working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Johnson is looking to control Frost's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted? Frost is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Frost is working for a submission of some sort.
Frost takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Frost slips a nice elbow through Johnson's hands, connecting with Johnson's forehead. Frost scoring with strikes to the body and head. Frost wants to work for an arm triangle but Johnson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Frost throwing shots but Johnson is blocking nicely. Frost looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Frost is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Johnson can do to turn this around? Johnson actively working from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Frost shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Frost backing away here, and Johnson unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Johnson gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Frost throws a combination that misses and Johnson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Johnson scores with a punch to the head. Frost shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Johnson defends it nicely. Johnson avoids the body shot from Frost.

Robert Frost dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round! Johnson misses with a low kick.
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown enabling Frost to counter with a crisp jab. Frost throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Johnson's head. Frost tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Frost swinging wildly here.
Frost shoots in and gets a takedown into Johnson's guard. Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Hilo inform us that Johnson has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Frost working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Frost has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Frost postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Frost postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it. Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Frost can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Frost stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson trying to control the position here. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Johnson wants to sweep here but Frost controlling him for the moment. Johnson controlling Frost's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnson enables Frost to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Frost might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Frost with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Frost trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Frost stands and throws Johnson's legs to the side, diving into side control. Frost scores with punches from side control. Johnson is looking for a sweep. Frost wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working. Frost working the body and head with strikes. Frost is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johnson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. You can see the frustration on Johnson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Frost scores with a couple of short elbows. Frost scores with punches from side control. Frost goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Johnson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Frost's guard! Nice work there by Johnson! Frost bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard. Johnson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Frost accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Frost working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Johnson's head. Frost throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Johnson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Frost lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Frost trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Johnson wants to sweep but no luck. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Frost from controlling successfully. Frost lands a couple of elbows. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Frost forces his way into half guard. Slenzy Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Robert Frost is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Frost is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Frost to get the leverage.
And that's the end of the fight! Robert Frost showed his dominance in that final round. Well Frost has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
