Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Red Cup (ranked 5279 p4p, 4241 weight class) and Kenny Knight (ranked 529 p4p, 468 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Red Cup!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenny Knight!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Knight takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Cup throws a hook but Knight avoids it easily.
Cup feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Knights jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Knight moves out of range as Cup strikes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cup pushes Knight back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Still in the clinch, Knight scores with a nice short uppercut.
Cup makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Cup wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cup stalling in the clinch.

Cup jumps into guard, dragging Knight to the mat.

Knight postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cup is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Knight, into his guard.

Cup passes Knight's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've been hearing that Cup has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Knight looks winded!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cup is looking to advance position but Knight won't allow it.
Cup content to control rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cup seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Knight for as long as he can get away with.

Cup decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Knight checks a low kick from Cup.
Cup cracks Knight with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Cup fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Knight is rocked!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Knight is still on wobbly legs! Can Cup finish him?

Cup is trying to trip Knight. He has hold of a leg but Knight is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cup persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Knight working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cup doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cup manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Our spies down at at Navy Street MMA inform us that Knight has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Cup passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Knight is trying to escape the position but Cup is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cup tries to advance to mount but can't.
Cup is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Cup grinds an elbow into Knight's temple.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Knight seems to have recovered his senses.
Cup trying to control the position but Knight is working away.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Knight tries to escape but Cup is in control.
You can see the frustration on Knight's face as Cup controls the position.
Cup prevents Knight from escaping the position.
Cup wants to lay and pray for a moment but Knight keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cup tries for a kimura but Knight is defending well.
Cup is looking to take a break and control but Knight is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cup decides to stand up, so the ref orders Knight to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Knight avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cup throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Knight.
Sloppy strikes from Cup. Those never looked like landing.
Knight with the counter takedown but Cup avoids it easily.
Cup tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Knight was well out of range. Poor timing from Cup.
Cup throws a right and a left that Knight avoids nicely.
Cup doesn't manage to clinch there - Knight circles away.
Cup throws a wild body kick that Knight sees coming a mile off.
Cup tries to close the distance and clinch but Knight swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Knight fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cup to the ground. Knight is now in Cup's guard.

Knight has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cup to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Knight is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cup pulls down on the head and he's put Knight to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Red Cup!
Our winner, Red Cup, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
