Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Renji Abarai (ranked 6514 p4p, 4823 weight class) and Jean Luc Petit (ranked 501 p4p, 441 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jean Luc Petit!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.

Petit throws a body punch but Abarai moves out of range.
Abarai paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Petit uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Abarai.

Petit misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Abarai cracks a nice hook into Petit's ribs.

It looked like Abarai wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Petit throws a looping overhand right but Abarai ducks down to avoid it.
Abarai definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Petit lands with a kick to the temple. Abarai shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Petit looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

It looks like Jean Luc Petit has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Petit looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A little feinted left hand from Abarai on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Abarai connects with a looping right hand.
Abarai digs a good hook to Petit's body.
Petit throws a shot from downtown. Abarai moves away and avoids it.
Abarai with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Petit tries to move into range but Abarai moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Petit throws a hook but Abarai blocks it.
Petit throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Abarai is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Abarai connects with a crushing straight, right on the bridge of Petit's nose, sending him crumpling to the mat! That's really rocked Petit - is he going to beat the count??? 4,5,6,7,8,9.....10 - he's not made it - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Renji Abarai!
After winning the bout, Renji Abarai thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Jean Luc Petit was interviewed post fight and said '6.6'.
