PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Crown Virus (ranked 6139 p4p, 23895 weight class) and Emeritus Forge (ranked 451 p4p, 522 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Forge's choice of entrance music: Cirice. Crown Virus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Crown Virus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Emeritus Forge!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and Anthony Taglia.

Forge will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Forge takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Forge shoots in for a takedown but Virus shows good takedown defense.
Virus was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Virus feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Forges jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Crown Virus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emeritus Forge.
Virus takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Forge fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Virus to the ground. Forge is now in Virus's guard.

Forge is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Forge distracts Virus with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Forge throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Virus tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Forge is in Virus's guard.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Forge shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Virus but Virus pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Forge feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Forge gets to his feet - Virus follows without any prompting.
Forge avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Virus moves in looking to clinch but Forge pushes him off.

Forge shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Virus's guard.

Virus throws a punch from the bottom, which has left him a bit exposed here… Forge has an arm triangle now. This could be big trouble for Virus. He's out! He's out cold! The ref pulls Forge off and Forge celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Emeritus Forge!
Emeritus Forge bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
