Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Vinicius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Vinicius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Doug Peterson! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some bone on bone action there as Vinicius checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Peterson misses with a series of wild punches.
Peterson stuffs the takedown. Vinicius fails to land the takedown. Vinicius bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vinicius fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Vinicius. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vinicius looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vinicius closes the distance and clinches up with Peterson, looking for a takedown. Vinicius pushes Peterson against the cage but Peterson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Peterson connects with a single shot there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Peterson throws a lazy right hand but Vinicius sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Peterson finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Vinicius shoots for a double leg takedown but Peterson sprawls well. He's pushed Vinicius's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Peterson throws a hook but Vinicius blocks it. Vinicius has a takedown stuffed. Vinicius defending well as Peterson loads up on a big left hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vinicius shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Peterson as he jumps to the side. Peterson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Peterson lands in his opponent's guard. Peterson with a nice head shot there. Peterson throwing strikes from guard but Vinicius blocks nicely. Vinicius is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peterson lands a couple of decent looking shots. Vinicius keeping moving, preventing Peterson from controlling successfully. Peterson is working Vinicius over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Peterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Vinicius is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Peterson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Peterson tries to free his leg and advance position but Vinicius is retaining full guard. Vinicius preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Peterson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Vinicius's head. Doug Peterson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Vinicius misses with a takedown attempt and Vinicius takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Vinicius gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Peterson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Peterson with a flurry of punches that miss. Peterson throwing strikes but missing. Peterson throwing strikes but missing. Peterson wants to control from the top but Vinicius keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Peterson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Vinicius's head. Peterson lands a couple of elbows. Vinicius trying to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peterson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Peterson lands a couple of decent looking shots. Vinicius preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Peterson lands a couple of digs. Vinicius working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Peterson. Peterson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. That's three minutes gone in the round. Peterson pushes down on Vinicius's leg and manages to get into half guard. Peterson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Vinicius taking some punishment here, with Peterson in his half guard. Peterson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Peterson connects with a nice short shot to Vinicius's temple. Vinicius trying to control here.

Doug Peterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Vinicius misses with a takedown and Peterson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Vinicius's guard now. Peterson throwing strikes from guard but Vinicius blocks nicely. Peterson throws a strike but Vinicius rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vinicius stopping the sweep attempt from Peterson. Vinicius has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Peterson controls Vinicius momentarily but Vinicius frees himself. Vinicius won't allow Peterson to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Peterson misses with a straight right. Vinicius doesn't succeed with the takedown and Peterson counters with a single leg into guard. Vinicius didn't expect that. Peterson scoring with punches to the head and body. Peterson wants to pass the guard but Vinicius is keeping the position.

Peterson is working Vinicius over with some ground and pound from side control. Peterson misses with the ground and pound. Peterson looks up at the clock and then as Vinicius takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Peterson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Peterson lands an elbow. Vinicius is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Vinicius takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Peterson lands some shots froms side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Doug Peterson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Peterson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
