Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcellus Legionarius (ranked 3256 p4p, 3381 weight class) and Peepee Shirta (ranked 406 p4p, 418 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

Legionarius fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Shirta on the side of the head.
Shirta fails with a takedown attempt.

and Legionarius counters with a nice right hand that sends Shirta toppling to the canvas! Shirta scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Legionarius finish him?!

It looks like Peepee Shirta has been cut.
Legionarius throws a nice looking combination but Shirta bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Shirta looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Legionarius is fending him off so far but Shirta persists. Nope, Legionarius circles away and we're back to standing.
Marcellus Legionarius has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peepee Shirta.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shirta changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Legionarius tries to avoid it but Shirta manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Legionarius to the ground. Legionarius escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
It looked like Legionarius was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Shirta takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Legionarius tries to kick Shirta off but Shirta keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Shirta is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Legionarius doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shirta.
Legionarius's coaches at Finch Gym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Shirta is working for a kimura but Legionarius is defending it quite comfortably.
Shirta should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
