PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Graves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Daily (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dustin Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Daily!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graves shoots in but no luck this time.
Horrible takedown by Graves or perhaps it was just good defense by Daily which made him look bad.

Graves bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Daily is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Graves is controlling him well.
Daily is trying to improve his position.

Graves tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Graves has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Graves wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Daily, who protects the arm well.
Daily is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Graves's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Graves seems to be working for a kimura but Daily defends the submission attempt.

Graves is trying to control the action in half guard but Daily is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Graves is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Graves looking for a guillotine from mount but Daily is having none of it.

Graves looking to secure an arm triangle but Daily defends it well.
Graves working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daily tries to hold on but Graves pushes him away.

Graves goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Daily is on top in guard.
Daily trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Graves wants to sweep here but Daily controlling him for the moment.

Graves is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Graves wants to sweep but no luck.

Graves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Daily doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Daily manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Graves manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Daily manages to get himself to full guard.
Graves passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Sloppy strikes there by Graves.

Daily is trying to control Graves's posture but Graves avoids it.
Daily might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Graves kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Daily is looking for a sweep.

Graves tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Graves is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Daily is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Daily is trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Graves happy to just control the position for now.
Daily is trying to control Graves's posture but Graves avoids it.
Graves tries to advance to mount but can't.

Graves is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Daily knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Graves tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Graves swings around for an armbar but Daily sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Graves's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Graves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Daily circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Graves.
Graves fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dustin Graves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Daily. No joy for Graves on that attempt.
Daily stuffs the takedown.
Daily cracks the inside of Graves's front leg.
Dustin Graves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Daily changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Graves looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Graves tries to buck Daily off but Daily is having none of it.
Graves manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Graves looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Graves wants to get back to full guard.

Daily tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Graves.
Daily wants to free his trapped foot but Graves is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Daily is breathing heavily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Graves misses with a takedown

and Daily counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Graves's guard now.
Graves keeping moving, preventing Daily from controlling successfully.
Daily really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Graves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Daily tries to stand but Graves is controlling from the bottom.
Graves working a defensive guard here.

Graves looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Graves is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Daily frees his head nicely. Oh but Graves has switched to an armbar! Daily is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
