PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gorgon Zola (ranked 443 p4p, 261 weight class) and Joe Clark (ranked 17 p4p, 9 weight class). Zola comes to the cage accompanied by For Heavy Metal we will die!. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gorgon Zola!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Clark!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clark takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Zola misses with a series of wild punches.
Zola misses with a looping left.
Clark throws a hook but Zola avoids it easily.
Zola pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Clark fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A slow jab from Zola misses its intended target.
Clark throws a good cross that connects.
Clark stalks Zola and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Zola's face. Zola staggers backwards, shaken.
Clark lands a nice hook to Zola's body. Zola takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Clark fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zola manages to avoid it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Clark throws the left hand but Zola avoids the punch easily.
A little feinted left hand from Zola on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Clark pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Clark waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Zola. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Zola to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

It looks like Gorgon Zola has been cut.
Zola wants to sweep here but Clark controlling him for the moment.

Zola looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Clark seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Let's hope that Clark has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Zola is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Clark controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Clark slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Clark must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Zola is pulling down on Clark's head. It's preventing any offense from Clark, at least for the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Zola throws a leg kick which misses Clark's front leg but catches the back leg as Clark tries to avoid it.

It looked like Zola was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Zola throws a hook to the side of Clark's head but Clark sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Zola uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Clark.
Clark throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Clark looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Zola displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Clark throws out the jab.
Zola moves forwards but Clark connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Clark seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zola does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Clark stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Gorgon Zola seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Zola just misses with a elbow thrown towards Clark's brow.
Clark tries a body shot but Zola blocks it.

Clark digs a right hand into Zola's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Zola's gas tank.

Zola walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Clark swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
