These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Gonzalez darts in and clinches Thomas up against the cage.
Gonzalez swings wildly with an uppercut but Thomas uses good head movement to avoid it.
A head punch on the inside from Gonzalez fails to land.

Thomas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Gonzalez doesn't manage to clinch there - Thomas circles away.

Thomas cracks Gonzalez with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Gonzalez looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Thomas finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thomas throws a sloppy head kick and Gonzalez moves out of range easily.
Thomas closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Gonzalez! Thomas dives in looking to finish! Gonzalez is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jax Thomas!
