Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hector Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Landers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Vargas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory Landers! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Landers tries to close the distance and clinch but Vargas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Vargas stuffs the takedown attempt from Landers. Landers gets slowly back to his feet. Landers fails with a takedown attempt. Vargas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Vargas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Landers is desperately trying to improve his position but Vargas has a good base and remains in mount. Vargas is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Landers has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Landers! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vargas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Vargas keeping full guard, as Landers tries to pass. Landers is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's one minute gone in the round. Landers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Landers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Vargas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Landers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Vargas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Vargas has his foot on Landers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Landers works his way back into a safe position though. Landers passes easily into side control. Nice work. Landers trying to control the position but Vargas is working away. Landers looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Vargas regains half guard. Vargas tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Landers has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Vargas can't escape the position.
Vargas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vargas tries to get out of the position. Vargas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vargas is squirming around, avoiding Landers's attempts to control the action. Vargas can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Landers working for a guillotine from mount but Vargas is in no mood to give up. Landers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vargas is looking to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Vargas regains half guard. Vargas actively working from the bottom here. Vargas looking for submissions off his back. Vargas is trying to get back to full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vargas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Landers pulls his head out easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Landers misses with a takedown attempt and Vargas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Landers won't be happy with that. Vargas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Vargas works to advance to full mount. Landers defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Vargas with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Vargas looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Vargas wants to escape the position.
Landers wants to control but Vargas is keeping busy.

Landers lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Landers.

Landers is trying to stick to Vargas's back but Vargas is turning into Landers. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Landers's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Vargas. Vargas postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Landers is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vargas, into his guard. Landers trying to control but Vargas is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Vargas working for a triangle but Landers defends it easily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vargas looking for subs off his back but Landers has passed one foot through into half guard.

Hector Vargas dominated that second round. That's time! Vargas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Vargas just misses with a punch to the body.
Vargas drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Vargas drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Landers dives on top into guard. Vargas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Landers has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vargas is proving hard to escape from. Landers is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Landers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Landers trying to control but Vargas is working from the bottom. Vargas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Landers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Vargas has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Landers is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Vargas.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Vargas looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Vargas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Landers pulls his head out easily. Vargas actively working from the bottom here. Vargas works his way to full guard. Good work. And that's the end of the fight! Hector Vargas showed his dominance in that final round. Well Vargas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
