Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Patill (ranked 4262 p4p, 4799 weight class) and Dimitri Havelock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patill comes to the cage accompanied by Down Like That. Dimitri Havelock has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Patill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dimitri Havelock! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.

so Patill counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Patill controls from within his opponent's guard. Havelock looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Patill slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Patill ducks under a wild hook from Havelock. Havelock lands a jab. Havelock misses with a shot to the body so Patill counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Havelock tries to land a sweep but no joy. Havelock wants to hit a sweep here but Patill passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Havelock there! Havelock squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Havelock is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Patill misses with a head shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Patill dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Havelock gets off balance looking for a body kick and Patill counters with a shoot takedown. Havelock fights it but they end up in guard. Dimitri Havelock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Patill accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Patill wants to stand but Havelock has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Patill's corner is telling him to maintain position. Havelock is trying to control the position from the bottom.

and Patill counters with a nice double leg into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Havelock trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Havelock wants to control the position but Patill says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Havelock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Patill trying to mount his opponent but Havelock defends it. Havelock trying to get back to full guard but Patill takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Havelock tries to get back to half guard but can't. Patill controlling the position easily from mount. Havelock tries to reverse the position but Patill maintains control. Havelock tries to hold on but Patill pushes him away. Havelock tries to reverse the position but Patill maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Patill controlling his opponent. Havelock tries to hold on but Patill postures up. Patill sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Patill seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Havelock for as long as he can get away with. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Patill dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round! Havelock thows a left - swing and a miss! Havelock throws a body punch but Patill moves out of range. Patill moves into the clinch successfully.
Havelock misses with a hook from the clinch. Havelock misses with a short punch on the inside. Havelock tries to work over Patill's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Patill has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Havelock after a bit of a struggle. Havelock can't find room to land a body shot as Patill controls the action.
Patill gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Patill is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Havelock throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Havelock is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patill would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Havelock wants to control but Patill passes easily into half guard.
Patill takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Havelock is trying to stand.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Patill avoids the body shot from Havelock.

Patill content to stall in guard here.

And that's the end of the fight! John Patill showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Patill, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
