Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Donovan Dieago (ranked 4836 p4p, 7501 weight class) and Greg Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Donovan Dieago! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Greg Cruz! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Dieago. Dieago in side control, just content to control the action for now. Cruz is looking to regain half guard here but Dieago keeps moving and retains side control. Cruz trying to remain calm as Dieago controls from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dieago's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz is looking for a sweep. Cruz is still trying to improve position. Cruz being controlled for a moment. Dieago looks up at the clock and then as Cruz takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Dieago smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dieago controlling the position. The strikes coming from Dieago are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Dieago tries for a kimura but Cruz is defending well. You can see the frustration on Cruz's face as Dieago controls the position. Dieago really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dieago creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cruz sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Dieago content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Dieago shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cruz pinned against the cage. Cruz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Cruz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A momentary lapse in concentration from Cruz enables Dieago to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cruz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Dieago controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Dieago has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dieago accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dieago stays in close to Cruz's body and controls the position. Dieago working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cruz misses with a wild combination.

Donovan Dieago dominated that round. That's time! Dieago's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Dieago throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cruz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dieago is in Cruz's guard. Dieago is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dieago seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cruz for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Cruz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Dieago wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Dieago closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dieago lands in his opponent's guard. Dieago controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dieago continues to stall. Cruz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dieago is one step ahead there. Dieago is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cruz can do to turn this around? Cruz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Dieago throwing strikes from guard but Cruz blocks nicely. Dieago is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cruz is looking to stand up but Dieago isn't so interested in that idea. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Dieago looks for a takedown but Cruz sprawls well. Cruz leaves Dieago with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Cruz throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Dieago looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Dieago seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dieago is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cruz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dieago. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dieago is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Cruz checks a leg kick. Cruz turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Dieago shoots for a takedown but Cruz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Donovan Dieago. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dieago dives in for a single leg takedown but Cruz sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No joy there for Cruz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dieago shoots in and gets a takedown into Cruz's guard. Cruz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dieago is controlling him. Dieago controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Cruz is looking to stand up but Dieago isn't so interested in that idea. Cruz looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Dieago puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Cruz wants to control but Dieago is keeping busy.
Dieago perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Cruz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Dieago shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cruz napping and manages to drive through into side control! Cruz is looking to regain half guard here but Dieago keeps moving and retains side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. This is a sustained period of stalling by Dieago. Dieago fails to land a wild elbow strike.

And that's the end of the fight! Donovan Dieago showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dieago, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
