PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lank Antunes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Alonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alonso has chosen Epidemic as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lank Antunes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marco Alonso!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alonso shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Antunes looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Antunes gets a takedown into half guard.
Alonso is holding on to half guard well.
Antunes is trying to control the action in half guard but Alonso is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Alonso wants to improve his position but Antunes is controlling well.

The fighters are battling for position here. Alonso manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Alonso is pulling down on Antunes's head. It's preventing any offense from Antunes, at least for the moment.

Alonso escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Antunes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Alonso has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Antunes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Alonso working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Antunes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Antunes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Alonso is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Antunes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Alonso slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Alonso doesn't have the hooks in and Antunes manages to turn into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Alonso cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Alonso fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Alonso wants to sweep here but Antunes controlling him for the moment.

Alonso bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Antunes's guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Alonso avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Antunes is looking for a triangle but Alonso pushes his legs off easily.
Alonso stays in close to Antunes's body and controls the position.

Antunes has his foot on Alonso's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alonso works his way back into a safe position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Alonso thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Antunes if he has to take too many more of those.

and Alonso counters with a shoot takedown. Antunes fights it but they end up in guard.

Alonso feints and as Antunes raises his hands in defense, Alonso changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Alonso is landing with some decent strikes but Antunes is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Alonso takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Alonso drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alonso jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Alonso tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Antunes swivels and escapes.

Antunes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Antunes doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Alonso counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lank Antunes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alonso gets to his feet. Antunes looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Alonso fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Antunes, pushing him back against the cage.

Antunes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Alonso avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Antunes has gone for a leg lock! Alonso slips out almost immediately though and dives into Antunes's guard.

Lank Antunes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Marco Alonso comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Alonso winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
