Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cory McDonnell (ranked 562 p4p, 1029 weight class) and Welter Weight (ranked 84 p4p, 156 weight class). McDonnell kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Jorge Quintero - 300 Violin Orchestra. Weight is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: They say that I'm Crazy. Cory McDonnell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 39 - 22 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory McDonnell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 23 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Welter Weight! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDonnell with a nice calf kick. Weight lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McDonnell looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. McDonnell with a jab. Good leg kick by McDonnell. McDonnell misses with an uppercut. Weight saw that one coming. McDonnell lands a nice shot that snaps Weight's head back.
Weight avoids a kick to the body.
McDonnell uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Weight.
McDonnell tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Weight manages to circle out of the way. McDonnell throws a lazy uppercut
and Weight connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. McDonnell misses with a body kick. Weight throws an overhand right that lands on McDonnell's shoulder, as McDonnell tries to avoid the shot. Weight connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed McDonnell momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McDonnell swings widly with a right hand
and Weight cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weight blocks a low kick nicely. McDonnell throws a leg kick and Weight counters with a straight punch to the midsection. McDonnell misses with a head kick.
Weight avoids the body shot from McDonnell.
McDonnell throws a front kick aimed at Weight's knee but Weight avoids it well. Weight appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Weight slips under a jab from McDonnell. McDonnell closes the distance and clinches. McDonnell using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Weight has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Weight lands with a light punch inside. McDonnell misses with some punches.
Weight has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. A quick uppercut on the inside from McDonnell.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Weight breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Weight misses with an uppercut
and McDonnell counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McDonnell. McDonnell tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Weight's elbow. Weight is pushing McDonnell up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. McDonnell lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Weight backwards. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Weight breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Weight takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. McDonnell lands with a hook. Weight tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. McDonnell connects with a solid leg kick. McDonnell wants to clinch but Weight slips to the side and Weight counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Weight chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McDonnell can pounce on him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McDonnell works over Weight's head and body with a nice combination. McDonnell lands with a thumping leg kick.
McDonnell throws a sloppy body shot
and McDonnell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McDonnell misses with a right hand and Weight counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. McDonnell connects with a good right hand that stumbles Weight. Weight circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Nice jab there from McDonnell. McDonnell pushes Weight up against the cage in a clinch. Weight avoiding damage as McDonnell throws knees to the body.
McDonnell misses with a body punch.
Weight breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Weight takes one on the button. Weight takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Weight is looking for the big counter here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDonnell misses with a wild body shot. McDonnell paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. McDonnell lands a jab to the head.
Weight closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. McDonnell throws a lazy uppercut
and Weight counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. McDonnell is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Weight circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cory McDonnell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McDonnell swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. McDonnell takes a swing at Weight's ribcage but misses. It seemed like Weight was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. The fight stays on the outside here - McDonnell looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Weight is clearly trying to counter these attacks from McDonnell with a body shot. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Cory McDonnell dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Weight feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends McDonnell sprawling to the canvas! McDonnell rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Weight finish him?!
McDonnell is rocked! Welter Weight seems to be getting the better of the standup. McDonnell misses with a straight left. Despite the aggression on Weight's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. McDonnell misses with a body shot
and Weight counters with a nice right hand that sends McDonnell toppling to the canvas! McDonnell scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Weight finish him?! Oh McDonnell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Weight swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Weight knocks McDonnell out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Welter Weight! Welter Weight really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Shadow-Battle Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
