Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Cho (ranked 2827 p4p, 2959 weight class) and Justin Purcell (ranked 282 p4p, 298 weight class). Justin Purcell will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Cho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Purcell! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cho steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Purcell. Cho throws a big counter combination but Purcell scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Purcell is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Cho misses with a few strikes there.
Purcell misses with a left hand enabling Cho to counter with a crisp jab. Cho misses with a hook. Purcell ducked under it nicely. Donk. Cho catches Purcell right on the button with a cross. Cho seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Purcell throws a lazy body kick and Cho counters with a left and a right that stings Purcell. Cho misses with a leg kick. Cho slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Purcell wants to clinch. Cho appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Purcell thows a left - swing and a miss! Purcell misses with a looping right. Purcell swings away with a leg kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cho lands a jab to the nose. Purcell pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Cho was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Purcell thows a leg kick but Cho checks it and Cho counters with a series of strikes. Purcell will be more careful next time no doubt. Purcell darts in looking for a takedown but Cho gets double underhooks and turns Purcell into the cage. Purcell misses with a wild body shot. A counter left hand to the body from Cho misses its target. Purcell fails with the takedown and Cho counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Purcell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cho feinted there with a counter leg kick. Purcell throws a right hand that misses
and Cho counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cho keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Purcell. A jab from Purcell misses. Purcell closes the distance and pushes Cho back into the cage. Purcell misses with a hook from the clinch.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Purcell lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Purcell misses with a body punch.

Purcell tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Purcell is trying to drag Cho to the mat but Cho just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Steve Cho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Purcell. Purcell tries to pull guard but Cho holds him up against the cage and eventually Purcell drops back down to his feet.
Cho is trying to push Purcell away but Purcell has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Cho blocks the elbow strike.
Purcell throws a head punch that misses. Purcell tries to score a body lock takedown but Cho shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Purcell swings wildly with an uppercut but Cho uses good head movement to avoid it. Cho escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Purcell misses with the body kick enabling Cho to counter with a crisp jab. Cho shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Cho lands a nice shot that snaps Purcell's head back.
Cho gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A low kick from Purcell is predictable there and Purcell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Cho misses with a head kick.

and Cho counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Purcell misses with the body kick and Cho counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cho lands with a nice body punch. Purcell misses with a looping left.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Purcell throws a body kick that misses and Cho counters with a three punch combo that has Purcell backing up. Purcell nods at Cho to acknowledge the strikes. Purcell takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Cho throws a right and a left that both miss. Purcell closes the distance looking to clinch and Cho counters with a series of strikes. Purcell will be more careful next time no doubt. Purcell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Cho counter with a right hand. Cho throws a body shot but no joy. Steve Cho dominated that round. That's time! Cho's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Cho will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cho lands with a nice combination. Purcell backs away looking to recover. Cho is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Purcell can do to turn this around? Cho lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Purcell misses with a takedown attempt - Cho sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. It looked like Cho was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Purcell moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. A nice combination there by Purcell.

And that's the end of the fight! Steve Cho showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cho, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
