Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lawrence Cohen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cohen comes to the cage accompanied by Season in the Abyss. David has chosen Bring The Pain as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lawrence Cohen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xavier David!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

David gets a takedown into half guard.

David is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cohen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time David.
David prevents Cohen from standing back up.

David is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cohen defends it well.

David seems to be looking for submissions.
Cohen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

David is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cohen is just riding it out for now. David eventually gives up the hold.

David drops back looking for a leg! Cohen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cohen manages to kick David off! David jumps back into Cohen's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

David got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cohen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, David has managed to get both his arms back between Cohen's legs - danger averted.

David drops back looking for a leg! Cohen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cohen manages to kick David off! David jumps back into Cohen's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cohen tries to land a sweep but no joy.

David is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Cohen reverses the position - he's now on top in David's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cohen has his takedown stuffed

and David counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cohen!

David moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cohen has worked his arm free - good work by Cohen!

Cohen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but David wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
David has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cohen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
David has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cohen is working away from the top position though.
Cohen works his way into side control.
David regains half guard.

Cohen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

David is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cohen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cohen's back!

David is looking for a triangle but Cohen pushes his legs off easily.
Cohen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed David's guard.
Cohen passes the guard and advances to mount!
Cohen prevents David from getting the reversal.

Cohen wants to finish this one by submission but David is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cohen.
David can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Xavier David showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Cohen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cohen showed some decent athleticism there.

Cohen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
David works his way to full guard. Good work.

David has his foot on Cohen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cohen works his way back into a safe position though.

David has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cohen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cohen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. David swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well David has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
