Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dominik Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Smith!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.

Cruz walks into a jab.
Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cruz pulls guard successfully.
Cruz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Smith stands and steps away. Cruz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Smith has taken the fight to the clinch.
Smith's coach down at Navy Street MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Smith's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Cruz is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Smith can't fight it off and eventually Cruz manages to take the fight to the floor. Smith looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Smith is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Cruz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smith dives on top into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Smith clinches up against the cage.
Smith breaks from the clinch.
Cruz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Smith is trying to buck Cruz off.

Cruz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Smith has escaped the position, nice work there.
Smith keeping his opponent close.
Cruz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cruz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Smith is pushing Cruz's head away, looking to escape. Cruz manages to hold on to the position though.
Cruz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Cruz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Cruz is breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Smith wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Smith is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Smith is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cruz's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Smith wants to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith wants to control but Cruz is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Smith is trying to stand back up but Cruz is controlling him
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cruz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cruz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cruz prevents Smith from standing back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Cruz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cruz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Smith throws Cruz to one side and escapes!
Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Cruz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cruz content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Smith has locked up a guillotine! Smith's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Cruz is holding on here and Smith must be using up a lot of energy. Cruz has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Smith gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Dan Smith!
In his post fight interview, Dan Smith started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
