Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Untlicker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome to the jungle. Chris Untlicker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Untlicker!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Untlicker throws a series of punches but Reed moves out of range.
Untlicker fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Untlicker scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Jamal Reed has been cut.
Untlicker avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Reed throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Untlicker.
Reed fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Untlicker looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Untlicker will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Reed tries to clinch up.
Untlicker moves into range and connects with a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Reed avoids the head kick by Untlicker.
Untlicker scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Untlicker stands and throws Reed's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Untlicker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reed keeps working.

Untlicker wants to control but Reed is keeping him busy.

Reed wants to stand but Untlicker is controlling the position.
Reed is breathing heavily.

Untlicker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reed swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Reed keeping moving, preventing Untlicker from controlling successfully.
Reed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Reed bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Untlicker's guard.
Untlicker trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Reed won't allow Untlicker to sweep him here.
Untlicker manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Reed is in a horrible position here. Untlicker smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Reed bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Reed throws and elbow that misses. Untlicker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Reed's guard. Nice move by Untlicker!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Reed is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Untlicker is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Reed accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Untlicker wants to sweep but no luck.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Untlicker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Reed closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Untlicker shoots in for a takedown but Reed shows good takedown defense.
Untlicker keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Reed tries to close the distance and clinch but Untlicker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Untlicker connects with a good right hand that stumbles Reed. Reed circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Untlicker changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reed looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Reed wants to control but Untlicker postures up.
Reed manages to work his way to half guard, despite Untlicker's best efforts.

Untlicker is working for a kimura but Reed is defending it quite comfortably.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Reed is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Untlicker is just riding it out for now. Reed eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jamal Reed will probably get the nod.

Jamal Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Untlicker avoids a punch combination nicely.
Reed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Untlicker tries to avoid it but Reed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Untlicker to the ground. Untlicker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

I would just about give that final round to Chris Untlicker.
