PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Akio Kurosaki (ranked 694 p4p, 559 weight class) and Dollar Hero (ranked 86 p4p, 67 weight class). Hero is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by For Heavy Metal we will die!. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

Kurosaki pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Hero drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kurosaki defends it well.
Hero tries to move into range but Kurosaki moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hero throws the left hand but Kurosaki avoids the punch easily.
Hero misses with a hook. Kurosaki ducked under it nicely.
Hero throws a leg kick that misses.
Kurosaki swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Hero uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kurosaki.

Kurosaki stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hero.

The fighters circle momentarily. Hero darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hero misses with a body shot
and Kurosaki counters with a leg kick.

Hero rushes Kurosaki and presses him up against the cage.
Kurosaki lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kurosaki misses with a short punch on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hero.
Kurosaki misses with a hook from the clinch.

Kurosaki breaks from the clinch.
Hero connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kurosaki's hands.
Kurosaki looks for the body kick but Hero saw that one coming.
Kurosaki misses the shot to the body.
Kurosaki throws a wild body kick that Hero sees coming a mile off.
A cross from Kurosaki lands.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Hero has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A nice leg kick from Kurosaki, right into the meat of the thigh.

Hero looks to land a body kick but Kurosaki moved away.
Kurosaki throws a quick counter kick to the body but Hero avoids it.
Kurosaki has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Hero lands a jab.
Hero takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Kurosaki looks to land a right hand but Hero moved out of range.
Kurosaki is looking to slow Hero down with leg kicks.
Hero throws a good cross that connects.
Hero lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Kurosaki waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hero.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hero. Kurosaki does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hero is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Kurosaki had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Kurosaki fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hero on the side of the head.
Hero darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Hero uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kurosaki.
Kurosaki walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Hero finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
It looked like Kurosaki wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Hero throws an overhand right that lands on Kurosaki's shoulder, as Kurosaki tries to avoid the shot.

Hero moves into range and clinches up with Kurosaki.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hero.
Kurosaki lands with a left to the head.
Kurosaki prevents a body shot from Hero.
Hero lands a shoulder strike.

Hero manages to pull guard.

Kurosaki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kurosaki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kurosaki has managed to get both his arms back between Hero's legs - danger averted.

Hero looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kurosaki is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hero is trying to keep Kurosaki in close.

Hero looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Hero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kurosaki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kurosaki has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hero to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kurosaki is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hero pulls down on the head and he's put Kurosaki to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dollar Hero!
Dollar Hero decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
