PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chad Brad (ranked 25155 p4p, 24372 weight class) and Magus Sylar (ranked 581 p4p, 601 weight class). Sylar has chosen Ties that bind by Alter Bridge as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Sylar gets caught napping as Brad dives in and scores a takedown. Sylar manages to retain guard.
Brad is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sylar wants to stand up but Brad is controlling him.

Brad is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sylar wants to stand and escape but Brad is having none of it.

Brad is pushing down on Sylar's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sylar is fighting to maintain full guard but Brad has managed to sneak the leg through.

Sylar wants to get back to his feet.
Brad looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Sylar is looking to escape.
Brad has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Brad drops an elbow to the side of Sylar's head.
Brad tries to stand and escape but Sylar is controlling the position.
Sylar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Brad takes one to the side of the head.
A left and a right from Sylar both land. Nice combination.

It looks like Chad Brad has been cut.

Sylar closes the distance and pushes Brad back into the cage.

Sylar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sylar rushes Brad and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Sylar manages to break the clinch.
Sylar has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sylar lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Brad goes down and covers up as Sylar starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Magus Sylar!
A very excited looking Magus Sylar made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
