Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Semi Etebo (ranked 2081 p4p, 1866 weight class) and Kurt Angular (ranked 229 p4p, 213 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Semi Etebo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kurt Angular!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.

No joy there for Etebo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Angular has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Etebo misses with a two punch combination.
Etebo throws a looping overhand right but Angular ducks down to avoid it.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Etebo manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Semi Etebo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Angular.

and Etebo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

enabling Etebo to counter with a crisp jab.

Angular should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A looping hook to the body misses from Etebo. Angular does a little dance to reset his feet.

And Angular tries to counter it with a takedown but Etebo pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Angular counters with a nice double leg into side control. Etebo won't be happy with that.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Etebo parries the strikes from Angular easily there. Angular is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Etebo to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Angular sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Etebo is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Angular creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Etebo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Etebo is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Angular asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Angular postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Etebo in real trouble here! The ref calls for Etebo to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

After winning the bout, Kurt Angular thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
