Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rian Mckean! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Niek Mulder! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.

Mckean has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Mckean's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mckean moves into the clinch successfully.
Mulder tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mckean smiles and moves away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mckean looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mckean clinches with his opponent.
Mckean escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mulder keeps the fight on the outside. Mulder looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Mckean wants to clinch up but Mulder keeps it at a distance. Mckean tries to clinch up but Mulder circles away and keeps his distance. Mckean gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mckean manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mckean fails in his attempt to clinch. Mckean closes the distance and clinches. A head punch on the inside from Mulder fails to land. Mckean breaks the clinch.

Mulder wants to take the fight to the mat but Mckean manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Mulder misses with a takedown attempt - Mckean sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Rian Mckean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Niek Mulder. Mckean fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rian Mckean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mckean forces Mulder back against the cage and clinches. Mulder jumps guard but Mckean stands there with Mulder around his waist. Mulder gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mckean has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Mckean escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mckean tries to close the distance and clinch but Mulder swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. The fight stays on the outside here - Mckean looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mulder is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Mckean looks to clinch and Mulder counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Mulder lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mulder works his way into full mount! Mckean knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mulder on the ground. Mulder unloading with bombs!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mckean is trying to stand. Mulder working the ground and pound effectively.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mulder lands a couple of good shots and Mckean has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Mulder has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Mckean. Mulder lands a shot to the body. Mckean takes a big shot to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mulder connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Mckean to escape the position.

Mulder lands strikes to the head. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mulder lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Mckean.
Mckean is rocked! Mulder scoring with big shots to the body. Mckean is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Mckean was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Niek Mulder! In his post fight interview, Niek Mulder started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
