PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rubicon Jay (ranked 1667 p4p, 1936 weight class) and Peter Parker (ranked 99 p4p, 112 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!

With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rubicon Jay!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Parker!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parker scores with a sloppy right hand. Jay should have avoided that one.

It looks like Rubicon Jay has been cut.
A left lands for Parker.
Parker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jay moves away.
Parker misses with a looping left.
Jay throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Jay moves into the clinch.
Parker goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Parker doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Parker has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jay avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Parker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jay drops Parker with a beautiful combination! Parker stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Jay is looking for the KO!

enabling Jay to counter with a crisp jab.

Jay throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Parker! But no joy.
Parker is still on wobbly legs! Can Jay finish him?
A looping hook to the body misses from Parker. Jay does a little dance to reset his feet.

Peter Parker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jay clinches up with Parker and pushes him back against the cage.
Jay keeps control of Parker as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rubicon Jay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Parker.
Parker is trying to drag Jay to the mat but Jay just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jay wants the takedown. Parker is fighting it off but Jay persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Parker's guard against the cage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parker seems keen to control Jay's posture.

Parker is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jay pulls his head out easily.
Jay takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jay seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Parker for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jay is working away from the top position though.

Jay tries to pass to full mount but Parker defends it.

Our spies down at at Triple XXX inform us that Parker has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Jay seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Jay is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Hardcore MMA that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Parker is looking for a triangle but Jay pushes his legs off easily.
Jay slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jay will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jay decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jay misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jay tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Some bone on bone action there as Parker checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Rubicon Jay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Parker digs a good hook to Jay's body.
Jay shoots in looking for a takedown. Parker tries to sprawl out of it but Jay keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Parker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Parker tries a head kick but it misses.
Parker displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jay.
As Jay backs off Parker throws a huge counter combo but Jay manages to avoid it all.
Parker scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jay doesn't seem bothered though.
Rubicon Jay is winning the standup battle so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Parker lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Parker drops Jay with a naaaaasty hook - Jay is in real trouble here! Parker dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Peter Parker decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
